Rules In The Presence Of A Lady When a gentleman sees a lady in need of assistance when he is in the presence of others he offers his hand, and says, "May I be of any assistance". If she accepts by extending her hand he helps her. If she doe not offer her hand, he politely withdraws his hand, yet standing ready to help if she stumbles or needs help in any way. A gentleman never grabs a lady by the elbow, but offers his left arm. A gentleman always walks on the right of a lady unless danger is on the left, such as a busy street. A gentleman never touches a lady in the back unless the lady is his wife. When seated by a lady he never shows her the sole of his shoe by crossing his legs. According to the Bible, showing someone the sole of the foot is an insult, as in shaking off the dust against them. A gentleman understands that his feet may be used to bring glad tidings to anyone in proper timing. He understands that no matter how shined his shoes are, if his mouth is not speaking glad tidings, his feet are still ugly in the eyes of the Lord. For the scripture states, "How beautiful are the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things". A gentleman understands the following scriptures and avoids these things always. Proverbs 6:16-19, These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Isaiah 59:7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. Ways Of Peace A gentleman's ways are ways of peace and helpfulness at all times. However, a gentleman is always cautious not to let his good be evil spoken of by others. Romans 14:16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of: For example, when a gentleman is travelling alone on the highway, he doe not stop and assist a lady with her flat tire without others present. He uses his cell phone and calls for proper assistance. She need not know of his kind gesture. A gentleman protects his reputation at all times because he serves the Lord Christ. The exception would be if the lady is in immediate danger. Then he throws caution and gender to the wind and helps to safety. Approaching A Lady A gentleman uses much caution in approaching a lady. It is best to be presented to the lady by another person. Witnessing for Christ is no exception. A gentleman lets a lady lead her to Christ. A gentleman's chase actions will be witness enough. A married gentleman may witness to another lady in the presence of his wife if he has her consent. A gentleman's first responsibilities are to the Lord Christ and his wife.
