An angel asked the question, What is the Son of Man that you visited him? Jesus, the seed of eternal life, referred to Himself often as the Son of Man. As a matter of fact, He quoted a direct quote form one of His ancient ancestors, Enoch, in Matthew 19:28. The quote came from Enoch Chapter 62:5 stating, When they see that Son of Man sitting on the throne of His glory. The term, Son of Man, who is with the Head of Days, is used 21 times in the book of Enoch. The book of Enoch also states, the Son of Man was appointed so before the earth began, but was kept secret. Jesus referred to Himself as the Son of Man over eighty times, quoted in the gospels. Once, He asked his disciples, Who do men say that I the Son of Man am? Matthew 16:13-18, When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The rock that Jesus is building His church upon is the revelation that He is the Son of Man, the Holy One, the Son of the living God, who was sent from heaven by the Father. Now we see that the Father, who is God, is not flesh and blood, and we see Jesus, who is God, is flesh and blood. The Word was made flesh and dwelled among men, as a man and is still a man, and is still God. When Jesus would refer to Himself as the Son of Man to the Jews, who also knew the book of Enoch, it would anger them to the point that they wanted to kill him. Unlike the fallen angels, man, who also committed treason against God, in the person of the first man Adam, was offered complete salvation through the last man Adam. We now know this to be a great mystery that God held close in his heart, since before the foundations of the world, which now has been revealed to and through the church. This is the wisdom that the angels desired to look into, but God chose to reveal it through the church. 1Peter 1:12, Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. Ephesians 3:10, To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God. Angels revealing things to man that God did not want revealed is what brought judgment on them in the first place. When Adam ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he opened the door to all manner of evil to be revealed to mankind, which God did not want revealed. God told man not to eat from that tree. Jesus stated in Matthew 18:7, Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! All God wanted man to know is good, which is Him, and His Son Jesus Christ, and to eat from the tree of life. Eve was tempted with these words in Genesis 3:5, For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. That was a true statement, but it was not God’s will for man to know both good and evil. All though evil was in existence, man’s eyes were shut to it. Man was not created to know evil. Woe unto any creature that teaches man to know evil, and turns him from God. Jesus came so man’s eyes could once again be blind to evil. You will see this very clearly in the book of Hebrews, when we discuss the High Priestly ministry of Jesus. (The Psalmist spoke of a time that there will be no evil in the earth.) Jesus talked about this in John 9:39 and 41 stating, For judgment I am come into the world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. Verse 41, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. Jesus is saying that He has come to open eyes to the gospel of righteousness and eternal life, which closes eyes to sin, through His blood. Those that receive him by faith are blind to sin, as Adam was before he sinned, but those who do not receive Him by faith, remain in sin, with their eyes wide open to the knowledge of good and evil. God is good. This is what God is judging. Does a man still know sin, or does he know righteousness, which is in Christ Jesus? Is he in faith concerning His Son? Has a man once again become blind to an evil conscience, having his heart sprinkled with the blood of Christ, that he may serve the living God with full assurance of faith. This is what the blood of Jesus has done for those who receive it, and renew their minds to it, and to those who do not walk after the first covenant that condemned sin, but walk after the new covenant, which destroyed sin by Christ Jesus. Only faith in the blood of Jesus can bring a man to this place in God, where he knows no sin. Only the word of God can bring him to know only God, as Adam did before he sinned, so he can know, as he is also known.
