Children should be given all the chance in the world to play outside of their homes and experience fun at their level. But there are instances wherein the weather does not cooperate with us. This makes our kids stay inside our homes and watch TV or video games for the whole day. This type of habit is not healthy because it does not promote good health for they are not using their physical strength. This will make them fat or worst, obese. That is why it is important for parents to find a way so that their child could still do physical activities, regardless of the weather outside. With that thought in mind, dodgeball is probably the best solution for those who wants to play indoors yet still experience the type of hype when playing outside. This sport is suitable for children for the mechanics of this old game is simple. Just throw the ball to your opponents and try not to be hit by them. There are a lot of gyms that already caters dodgeball specifically. These establishments have installed rubberized mats to avoid abrasions on the kid’s knees and elbows. In addition to this, they have also placed rubberized walls that prevent injuries when a collision is inevitable. Such establishments include the Bundoora Indoor Sports Complex, which hosts the current Melbourne Dodgeball League. This is a testament that it has successfully passed all government requirements with regards to safety of the sport. To keep things on the top level, they have devised a lot of variations to this age old game. One of the famous forms is called doctor dodgeball. It is a variety wherein each team assigns their own “doctor” which has the ability to revive players whose been hit by the ball. The team has the option to hide or assign a fake doctor on their teams to provide extra protection for them. However, the game ends rapidly if the doctor himself is taken out of the game. Another variety of this fun game is called the traitor ball. It is where each team assigns a covert player and assumes that he is playing for the other team. He will just wait for the right opportunity to hit his “team mates” and take them out of the game. This type of game is more complicated because it involves the strategy of deception and secrecy of the player’s true identity.
