In Isaiah 56:4-5 we read, For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. In order to understand these verses you must know what a eunuch was. A eunuch was a male chosen at a very young age by royalty and made where he cannot have children (cut off) and brought in to the king’s house to serve him. The idea is that because the eunuch cannot have a future family of his own, he will have no personal desires to increase his own good. He was provided for by the king better than sons and daughters, and knew things about the king that even sons and daughters did not know. Eunuchs were given much authority in the king’s business, in finances and even within the bedchamber. They knew everything about their master, therefore were required to be faithful. We read about a eunuch of Queen Candace in Acts 8:27-28. And he (Philip) arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, 28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. In Isaiah 56:4-5 above, God is comparing what He will do for those who do the things that please him and stay in His covenant of rest to eunuchs of old. They shall not be a dry tree. They shall have an everlasting name and their future shall not be cut off. As sons and daughters, we shall have a place in Him that is better that a son or a daughter. We shall enter in to His bedchamber and know the intimate knowledge of God. We shall have the name of Christ Jesus as our inheritance forever. We shall enter into the secret place of the Most High. The Hebrew meaning of secret place is a place of covering. Under His feathers shall we trust. His feathers, refers to the canopy of the throne room, made by angels interlocking their wings over the throne. His children are to come boldly unto His “throne of grace”, as stated in Hebrews 4:16. Grace means, that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness, grace of speech. We go into the Father’s presence to obtain and find. We obtain mercy and find grace every time, all the time, forever. When we do this the Father's way, we will be rewarded the Father's way. According to Matthew Chapter 6, we do it in secret and He rewards us openly. Free book downloads at fredfishburne.com.
