Scart Cables Vs HDMI

Business,Electronics
After purchasing a TV, there are a multitude of ways to hook the TV up to devices. DVD players, VCRs, cable boxes, and games systems all require different cables to be attached to the desired system. Two of the most popular options are SCART Cables and video cables.

SCART Cables were invented in France and use a 21 pin connector for connecting audio visual equipment. In the United States the SCART cable is known as the EIA Multiport. Mostly used in Europe, it can be found elsewhere and is still useful. With its Bi-directional stereo audio producing a clear, crisp sound this cable is a popular choice for attaching certain devices. It also allows for a several different video signal options such as bi-directional Composite or uni-directional RGB. They are popular for DVD players as nearly all the players with SCART sockets output RGB video that offers a truly superior picture quality.

While there are several advantages to the SCART cables, they are often limited to use only in Europe due to the higher voltage requirement and there are also several other disadvantages to them as well. The first is that they are often confusing to consumers due to TV sets have multiple ports that could be connected but that often do different things and are not clearly labeled. They are prone to getting loose and falling off due the thick cord and the fact that the connectors only possess limited locking capability. The cords are often thick and inflexible making connection difficult. They are also often cheap and can break the pin connectors on the inside causing the cable to become worthless.

Video cables are another option with the most popular being the HDMI Cable. The High Definition Multimedia Interface is a compact interface allowing from digital data and audio to be transferred providing for a superior picture and sound with relative ease. The HDMI cable is popular due to the fact that it is extremely simple to use. Simply plug both ends in to the HDMI ports on both device and it will work. The HDMI ports all look the same so there is no need to worry about mixing up the ends or which ports do what.

Another popular feature of the HDMI cable is its versatility. It can be hooked up to a variety of devices quickly and easily. Most DVD and Blu-Ray Disc players made after 2006 have HDMI ports, TVs now have multiple HDMI ports so many device can be connected at once. Consumer camcorders and digital cameras are now coming equipped with HDMI connectors. Most new video game systems come with an HDMI option allowing them to be hooked up with a single cord instead of the multiple wire composite cables option. Perhaps the most used use for the cables is to hook up a laptop or other computing device to a TV. This allows for a much bigger screen and the ability to use a laptop to stream movies and videos from the internet or to be used as a DVD player eliminating the need for other devices.
