Many people are worried about weight loss but there are also those who wish to know how not to lose weight as they either wish to stick to their present measurements or they wish to weigh more. In order to sustain energy needed for rigorous activities throughout the day, it is important to control weight. If you have a BMI or Body Mass Index that is lower than 18.5, it is an indication of being underweight. Here are ways for you not to lose weight and instead gain a little more.

If you are a man, your average daily calorie requirement is 2200 but if you are a woman, you need 1900 calories every day. Do not go below this requirement if you do not wish to lose weight. If you want to gain more, add 500 to 1000 calories every day so that you would gain half a pound to a pound every week. Do not feed on greasy or junk foods but instead have a balanced diet with increased portion sizes.

Always have the right diet with additional calories from lean meats and healthy fats coming from chicken, salmon, tune, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish oil and flax-seed oil. Eat more whole grains, fruits and veggies. Also drink at least eight glasses of water and other healthy fluids that are packed with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. These include milk, sports drinks and fresh fruit juices.

It is also advisable to have a high-calorie snack in between meals aside from your three regular meals. You can munch on granola bars, yogurt, muffins, smoothies, dried fruits and cheese sandwiches. Eat foods that are filled with protein so as to create new muscles. Never substitute protein for the calories coming from healthy fats and carbohydrates though. You can have protein supplements such as protein shakes, L Glut-amine and Creatine mono-hydrate.

Another way on how not to lose weight is to work out with weights as this shall build muscle mass which is heavier than fat. Aerobic workouts would improve heart health and make you lose weight but they never build muscle. Use dumbbells as these focus on large muscle groups. They put all of your muscle fibers to work and add more mass to your muscles. You can do bar dips, barbell rows, bench presses, dead lifts, pull-ups and squats.

It is important to have enough amount of sleep everyday as this helps the body digest calories you took in. Sleep not less than eight hours every night so that your muscles will be repaired and you will have more strength to perform mass-building exercises daily.

Always be consistent when you do not want to lose weight but wish to sustain your present weight or gain a little more. Do not take in additional calories today and then take only a few tomorrow. If you have a fast metabolic rate, you are more likely to maintain a low weight. You should therefore add more calories and workout regularly and be patient.
