A Lazy Successful CEO -

Self Improvement
It used to be an oxymoron to have a lazy successful CEO because much of the job required a lot of hard work to not only get to that level but also stay put in that position. While there were some great CEO’s in the past that claimed laziness, they were often times trumped with the reality that the job requires a lot of hard work to maintain. Today, there is a new way for these hard working individuals to finally grasp the brass ring of being lazy. Could a lazy CEO really be a success? With “crowdsourcing”, the former ideologies of doing business breaks down into something that is just much easier to go along with than the traditional methodologies of the past.

First and foremost, you’ll have to consider the older path of getting work done. For instance, if you were in the design world and you wanted a design to be made for your website, blog, or advertising you would have to go to an advertising firm and ask for their help. They would then engage an in house collective of workers and get back to you with mockups and the process could take a long period of time. You would also only be limited to their selection of artists and styles, and if you were delivered something that you didn’t like, you would have a hard time getting what you wanted in a short amount of time. That format has been broken by crowdsourcing in many ways.

When you think about crowdsourcing, you might now realize that it is true to the word and definition. Instead of having one person or group trying to move forward with a variety of tasks you can spread them across a great number of different resources and then get to the solution faster. Looking back to the design model that was aforementioned, you would be able to get that ad design faster by spreading out the ideas and tasks across many potential workers rather than one group. If you had a large number of resources to get ideas from you could arrive at a solution that was not only diverse but fit the needs with relative ease.

The proper definition of the idea of a lazy successful CEO relies heavily on how business today works. Instead of distributing work to a set number of employees, many are finding independent contractors, smaller businesses, and a lot more areas to hire help. This goes across online and offline resources that are then presented to clients in order to accomplish work. For creative types this can be an example of taking on clients than outsourcing the work of the collateral to several independent contractors, then delivering final concepts to the client. The client never sees the many different contractors that worked on their project; they only see the middleman, which can be monetized in many different ways.

For those that have a hard time picturing this, crowdsourcing can be utilized for information gathering on specific topics. For instance, a large group can be poled on just about any topic; the data aggregated can then be funneled into a definitive article of information on that topic. It is sometimes referred to as “wisdom of the crowd”. The reason why this is successful is because it cuts overhead, and the CEO doesn’t have to get his hands dirty, as others work hard to maintain the tasks and are compensated for doing so. With a larger pool of workers, any business can alleviate the stress and limitations of traditional business models with relative ease.
