There is more to applying to law school than merely turning your application in. In this article I'm going to discuss when the best time is to apply to your chosen school. There is a bit more to it than you may think, and I want to make sure that I clarify a couple things that come into play when applying to law school.. The majority of law schools' programs start in Fall, depending on which program you apply for. As such, your deadline will probably be sometime in January. Count on most law schools having deadlines before March for students who wish to attend beginning the next fall. With all that said, understand that some schools use rolling admissions. Essentially, students are accepted or rejected as they apply. Generally, you should plan on submitting your app by December. As a law school applicant you know more than anybody about all the stuff that goes into the application. rec letters, college transcripts, exam scores, and lots more. A large portion of your law school application relies on information that can only be provided by others. This means that you should start working on your application as soon as possible. You need to deal with having your entire application but waiting for a transcript to come in. Delays like these could be the difference between an acceptance and a denial. The best plan is to finish a great deal before you plan on turning it in. Applying early is always a good strategy, but it is totally counterproductive if it means you did a shoddy job finishing it. Though you should always try hard to apply as soon as possible, keep working on it if it needs it. Keep in mind, get it in asap so that you aren't behind the crowd.
