This is something that I may be just a little too old to take part in at this stage of my life, but there are younger people who are really into this and should know what you need to have the best results. It’s not something you are going to see in any Houston nightclub promotion as I am sure they worry about people doing it, but any time you get a good band playing somewhere, the issue of crowd surfing is a reality. You need to know what the best atmosphere is for this to happen. First off, you need a really good band to make it worthwhile. This is not something you are going to see at just any club. If it is a soft rock band with a lot of acoustic guitar, odds are they really aren’t going to be playing the kind of music you need to do this. You would much rather have a hard rock or metal band to do this with. When you go to a place with a group of your friends, you can’t just do this with anyone. Check out the group and see who is the most likely candidate to be successful at this. You need someone thin enough and strong enough who can make it through a good crowd without any problem. If you are the chosen one, check out the crowd around you. You want to be sure you have guys who are strong enough to carry you along. You might also want to make sure that they aren’t too drunk and are just going to let you fall to the ground. One thing that may not seem that important is to give your keys and wallet to your friends. Remember, you are going to be surfing through a crowd of complete strangers who are going to have their hands all over you. Besides the fact that you can’t be shy about being manhandled, you don’t want to finish and find that someone along the way has robbed you. Once you are up and moving, try to lay as flat as you can and enjoy the ride. Hopefully the room isn’t too big and you end up all the way at the back and far away from your friends. Odds are you will never get back to where you were if this happens. It may not be the safest thing in the world for someone to take part in, so you should be really careful if you are crowd surfing. Also be prepared to get thrown out of the club if they are not happy with your stunt. It’s an occupational hazard that they don’t always tell you about. My advice is to scan through and see if there is any Houston nightclub promotion that is advertising a good band to try this with. I admit, it’s been a long time since I have done it and I might need a hip replacement if I did it now. That doesn’t mean that you youngsters out there shouldn’t have some fun and live it up though.
