The Wine Business Institute at Sonoma State is now acceptingapplications for the Foundation Course, level one of three for theonline Wine Business Management Certificate. Applications will beaccepted until June 15th and students can apply online. The newcertificate allows participants to strengthen their knowledge ofwine business fundamentals, marketing and finance in an onlineformat accessible in every corner of the world. "Invaluablecourse in helping wineries understand how the variables in makingwine affect profitability," stated Karen Heintz of CharlesHeintz Vineyards. The Foundation course is an overview of global wine commerce - howwine is distributed and sold around the world. It is taught by TimHanni MW who is the one of the first two Americans to earn thetitle Master of Wine. He is also an internationally recognized wineeducator and joined Sonoma State"s wine industry faculty forthe launch of the new program. He is involved in cutting edgesensory and behavioral research projects focused on understandingwine consumer preferences, attitudes and behaviors. Speaking of the foundation and intermediate courses, Chris Millard,winemaker at Newton Vineyard, described them as "two greatcourses and a very positive experience with the SSU Wine BusinessInstitute via the Internet.
