We are all living in a highly competitive world where everyone is trying to outperform others. This is because people want to lead a happy life and for that, they need success and money. That’s why; there’s a lot of competition out there too. If you want to attain success, you have to stand out amongst the crowd. That’s the only way of being successful these days. If you will keep following others or using tried and tested methods of success, chances of your success will decline. If you will look at the lives of successful people, you will realize that most of them have leaded a pretty disciplined life. They always know what they want to achieve and they work towards it. This actually means that they had set goals in their lives and they worked really hard to achieve them. This is the importance of having goals in our lives but most of us just ignore it. We usually read a lot about what goals are or how to set them and all but in practical life, we don’t practice it. We have a fear of rejection and failure. This makes us weak and we keep on ignoring the concept of having goals. If you will look at it, goals aren’t that difficult to achieve IF you really want to achieve them. You just need to be consistent and practical while deciding your goals. There are a lot of people out there who set goals that are too ideal to achieve. That’s why; it is extremely important for you to have goals that are achievable because only then you would be able to enjoy the entire process of goal setting. You need to understand that you will have to set goals based upon your individual situation. You can’t just follow someone blindly because everyone has different situations in their lives. Therefore, it is better to set goals depending upon your abilities. It is not necessary that one should have a long term goal. You can have short term goals as they are easier to achieve and you can keep the accountability as well. Research indicates that one should start with having short term goals and with the passage of time, you can move towards having long term goals in life. It is extremely important that we start setting goals at a young age because it will become our habit. But unfortunately, most of our schools don’t teach their students about setting a goal. If they will have some activities where student would be asked to write down their goals, they will understand its importance. It will keep them involved too because everyone would want to achieve their goals. One also needs to emphasize that everyone’s goals are different depending upon their situation and capabilities. Therefore, everyone should have their own set of goals, which they could achieve. You don’t need to set goals that are not achievable because it’s of no use and it will only make you annoyed.
