After we finished up lunch we went back to my office and I started working on some quotes for him. I am an independent agent so I work with numerous top rate companies and quote my clients with all of them. After searching with all my companies I found a rate that was over half less than what my friend was currently paying. He could not believe it. He was stressing out about how he was going to pay his most recent increase in insurance bill and now realized that problem was solved. His new rate was going to be less than what he was paying prior to his latest violation. He wondered how that rate was correct. As I told him insurance carriers have varying prices and different ways to rate customers. Simply put he was insured with the wrong company who was not willing to offer him the best rate. It may have been a result of a number of things like his age, credit score, vehicle, address, etc. Whatever it was they were charging too much. I was able to insure him with a company that wanted him as a client and felt like he was not a big risk and it was reflected in his rate.
