When I was a boy my Dad would take me fishing in a huge natural lake, which was fed by the Black Warrior River in Alabama. Choctaw Lake was filled with giant moss filled Cyprus trees growing out of clear, dark, almost black water. The trees were so thick we had to weave our way through with boat and paddle, as we fished. Choctaw Lake was mostly in shadow with rare beams of sun light glistening on the water through the Cyprus canopy above. After a while, all of our surroundings looked the same, except for an occasional water moccasin swimming by, a crane perched on a nearby stump, or the sound of a beaver’s tail on the water, warning of our presence. The solitude was delightful even as a young boy. To prevent from losing our way, my Dad would hang strips of white cloth, which he cut from old bed sheets, to mark our path through the water. Only one rule applied. Never lose sight of the last mark before hanging the next one. We were free to enjoy our fishing trip and not be concerned of getting lost. As we go through life and face challenges, we need to mark our paths with the Word of God, never letting the marks out of sight. Psalms 119:105 states, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. It is the word of God that brings victory in every challenge. The word of God is massive, we must mark our way through it one scripture at a time. Like the bed sheets my Dad used to mark our way through Choctaw Lake, were useless until cut into small pieces. So it is with the Word of God, when we dissect the Word into small pieces and hang them in our hearts one scripture at a time, they will bring safety in every area of life and we can enjoy the trip as we go. Learn more on how to meet every challenge with the word of God.
