If you are thinking of becoming a Fitness Instructor there are a lot of considerations you need to think over. A lot of people that are thinking of getting involved in the fitness indsutry come from the other industries. It will be a big change in your lifestyle and if you are used to being at an office all day sitting at a computer you will be in for some major physical adjustments. It can be physically grueling to be teaching fitness all day so you want to make sure your body is in prime condition and you have solid endurance. You should start to teach just a few classes a week and it that doesn't tire you out then you can move to teaching more classes and maybe even a full day of classes on the weekends. Once you are steadily teaching fitness classes on the weekends and still have energy and are not physically drained or exhauasted you can think of maybe switching to teaching on a part-time basis and maybe cut some of your hours at your full time job. You also want to make sure you get the proper certification for whatever kind of fitness you want to teach whether that is yoga, winsor pilates, spinning, zumba or strength training whatever fitness studio hires you will want to verify your credentials and possibly your insurance. You can usually take classes at a local university or community college to keep your costs low. Once you start teaching on a full-time basis it is a wise idea to get insurance since students will get injured which may or may not be your fault and you want to make sure you protect your assets. A small policy should not cost your more than one hundred dollars a year. Once you start teaching on a regular basis, you want to make sure you are taking care of your body with proper nutrition, conditioning your body to teach by stretching or doing calisthenics since your income will start to depend on your health more so than just sitting at a desk job all day. You want to make sure you are getting a full night's rest because it is very physically demanding to be a full-time fitness, yoga, spinning or pilates instructor. You want to make sure that you keep proper boundaries between your students making sure to not do any inappropriate hands-on adjustments or not getting too chummy with them. You want to maintain yourself as a professional and an expert with them and not get too involved with their personal life.
