Some sample questions to ask Lynn Maree Milburn, director of In God We Trust, a new documentary film about Catholic Priest Father Bob Mackay: a. what sort of kid were you and did you always want to be a film director? What new skills did you learn along the way? b. what was your first job and how did you get it c. what other sorts of work did you do along the way? What worked and what was spectacularly unsuccessful? How did you know you could be a good film director? What felt right about it? e.What skills do you think directors need? What sort of people do you look for to be on your team? f. How does a director work with a writer? g. Have you noticed anything curious about directors as a breed? Do they share any common attributes (MASSIVE EGOS for example?) h. How do you prepare to direct a movie? i. Describe a typical day making In Bob We Trust, in pre? in production? in post? During release of the film? j. How long does a directing gig actually last? When does your responsibility end? k. What would you recommend a young person do if they wanted to be a director? l. What do you think about film directing as a career in Australia now? m. What is it like having your business partner as the producer for In Bob We Trust? How would you describe the film (In Bob We Trust)- is it a straight documentary film or have you recreated scenes? Di you know Father Bob Mackay for a long time before you started making the film? Do you feel that he likes having a film made about him? What are your hopes for In Bob We Trust? Have their been any difficulties in production?
