Anyone who has experienced the pleasure of learning the sales game is aware of the term 'commission only'. This is when the money you earn depends on your performance. It is a learning curve and it is exciting and as an affiliate marketer you are essentially a commission only salesperson. In other words you get paid when you refer a sale. What does it mean when we use the term 'refer a sale'? Let us say that someone else has a product. It does not have to be your product. You do not have to go out and create a product yourself. There are people who have already created product and as an affiliate marketer what you have to do is sell the product for them. What you are essentially doing is sending traffic to an offer and when a sale is made the owner of this product is going to pay you a commission for the sale. The beauty of this concept is that you can make money on this very quickly. You can make fast profits. You pick a product you want to sell, you set up a web page to grab leads and you pay to send traffic to that page. In reality, you could be making money the same day. There are no support issues when you are an affiliate marketer. The issues that may arise belong to the creator of the product. The issues are dealt with by the service department and not by the salesman. Affiliate marketing allows you to grow as big as you want to because you can potentially set up multiple income streams. Whenever you develop a niche and find a physical or information product for it, you can set up a system so that traffic flows to the sales page and the whole process runs on autopilot. You can then choose to move to another niche or another product depending on how you feel. For sustainability though it is important to develop a list. Where a lot of people fail in affiliate marketing is that they do not build a list of prospective clients. What some marketers do is find a physical or information product to promote. They enter their affiliate link in the advertisement and they send people right to the sales offer. By doing this the affiliate marketer has just allowed a potential customer to slip through their fingers. If they do not buy then you have no way to get in contact with them. People who have expressed an interest in the niche the affiliate is promoting need to be nurtured. What needs to happen is the prospective customer should be sent to an 'optin' page where they are given a gift as an incentive to join your list. You capture their name and email address before they are sent to the sales page. You then not only make money off the sale but you are also building a list of people who are interested in that niche. If they are not interested in the original offer, you can later send them to another offer in the same niche which may have more appeal. this way you are actually not only making sales but building a business.
