Mangalore is a port town and the HQ of Dakshina Kannada district in the tidal area of Karnataka State in India. Mangalore is the portal to Karnataka. In the eighteenth century, its control was contested by Haidar Ali and Tipu Sultan on one hand and the English on the other. Under the Mysore sultans ( 1763 ), it turned into a strategic ship building base, which was conceded to the Brit in 1799 after countless sieges. Mangalore is amongst the speediest developing towns in India. Many firm firms and domestic companies are opening their branches in Mangalore.
