South African Airways is on the point of introducing a new check-in luggage policy as from Sep five. The policy will permit passengers on most world routes to examine in 2 piece of baggage with a maximum weight of 23kg each in economy and 32 kg in business class. Domestic travelers will be limited to one piece of bags. The policy aligns with many of the bigger Star coalition member carriers making sure a clear and consistent set of rules across SAA and other Star coalition network. Each one of these pieces will be subjected to size and weight limitations .The fresh policy describes the quantity of bag pieces a passenger may check-in, as well as the weight limitations for each piece, according to route and class of travel. Excess bag, i.e., extra items, or where the luggage surpasses the weight and / or size allowance, will be charged at a fixed rate per piece of bags per rule ignored. This is a change from the existing policy where excess bag is charged per kilogram. An excess luggage charge will sign up for each bit of bag that surpasses the maximum dimensions as stated in SAAs bag policy. The maximum dimensions are 80cm by 60cm by 18cm =158cm ( sixty-two inches ) Additionally and to go along with airport loading apparatus limits. SAA can't accept any check-in items weighing more than 32kg. Any items surpassing this limit with either need to be repacked into separate bags or checked in at the SAA Load counter and flown at load rates. The fresh policy, which has straightforward reasons and identifies routes where adaptations are pertinent might be viewed online at www.flysaa.com.It also forms a crucial part of the Terms & Conditions of all SAA tickets, including flights acquired on the internet. Passengers traveling on multi-sector / multi-carrier tickets and SAA code-share partner flights, i.e. .tickets bought from SAA for a flight with an SA flight number, but controlled by another airline, should check with the other airlines to find out which luggage policy is pertinent. The policy will apply on tickets for all flights controlled by SAA, ( flown using an SAA aircraft and crew ) .For tickets concerning joint global transport services ( code share ) supplied by SAA and foreign airlines and free bag and excess bag charge policy have been changed and should be based primarily on the policies of the principal carrier for the trip. It's not only SAA airlines that are putting limitations on bag allowance but all airlines as the passengers do no stick to the policy but instead take the danger of carrying more. This excess luggage if not studied could cause overload on the plane therefore leading to accident. Airlines are thus becoming difficult and making certain the cargo of the airplane is correct for safety aspects and passenger comfort. Particularly travelers are suggested if they reckon they're going for long vacations they ought to consult their travel expert well advance for advance booking of their excess bag to avoid last minute discontentment. Passengers traveling on domestic flights are advices to have soft bags as the airplane used are use and can't accommodate large cases.
