The American business magnate and one of the world’s wealthiest people Warren Buffet once said, “Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.” It gives consumers a different perspective on things, and can be taken to mean that expensive things do not necessarily have great value. This is one of the reasons why so many people trust Japanese used cars—these vehicles may be called “cheap,” but these are nonetheless highly valued because of their fuel efficiency and tried-and-tested reliability. To be smart and practical, shoppers ask themselves—or others—about whether a product or service is worth their money before purchasing it. A short time spent on some Internet research can already yield several helpful tips and reviews about a product, making it easier for consumers to make informed decisions. And while buying new items on the market assures consumers of product “freshness” and reliability, there are still those who prefer purchasing pre-owned items because of greater affordability. You can see plenty of secondhand cellphones, smartphones, media players, cameras, scooters, furniture, and clothes online. A lot of used items being sold online by the thousands are pre-owned cars, mostly from Japan. Buying items online may be convenient, but what makes it difficult is that customers do not get to inspect what they’re purchasing up close, especially cars. Automotive experts would always advise consumers to test-drive the cars they are interested in, but this is of course impossible if one is importing cars from Japan. Why would anyone be willing to purchase something from halfway around the world without testing it first? How can you be sure that you won’t fall victim to false advertising? Such is the bane of online shopping, but one thing’s for sure: you can trust Japanese used cars and their reliability. Reliability is one of the qualities of a car you shouldn’t take for granted, especially if you drive to work or school on a daily basis. You wouldn’t want to be late for an important meeting or exam. It’s important to have a car that won’t let you down, something that is easy to maintain and repair when needed, something that will do what is expected for it to do, something that is sturdy inside and out. Cars made by Japanese brands have been known to be more reliable than well-known luxury brands. When it comes to reliability, you can trust Japanese used cars to deliver. As a proof, a 2012 survey on car reliability shows that the best vehicle brands reliability-wise are those from Japan. Consumer Reports published the results that show Toyota Motor Corporation’s brands Scion, Toyota, and Lexus are the most reliable in the world, closely followed by fellow Japanese brands Mazda, Subaru, Honda, Acura, and Nissan’s luxury brand Infiniti. These brands bested those from the United States and Europe—yes, even the luxury marques. If you value your money, your safety, and your convenience, be a smart shopper and go for the products that give you the most value in return. By being reliable, cars from Japanese brands wouldn’t need to go to the mechanic for repairs and overhauls—even pre-owned ones. This saves the consumer a lot of money, and that is real value—getting so much more for a lot less. If you don’t trust Japanese used cars, it’s impossible you can rely anything else.
