An online shopping website needs to be able to captivate its audience in order to generate more sales and profit from the website. One thing that needs tending to is the way web designers should be creating the products pages. To create a website’s products page, it is very important to understand the value of making design and functionability of the design because product pages are what makes your website get all the money. Design is important as this has the ability to capture the attention of your web users and influence them to browse through what you are offering them--this is very important to remember as you create a website. On the other hand, functionability of design is also important as this ensures userability of the creative elements your site have. Call-to-action buttons, images, or sidebar links should be added into the right places of the website and should function the way they should. Header-to-Footer Products Page Design Header – The product page header should be the same with the header from the homepage. This will ensure your users that they are still using the same website for shopping. Navigation - This goes the same with the header—this should not be changed in order to provide consistency to your users. Breadcrumb Navigation – Breadcrumb Navigation pertains to the aid for users to help them be aware of their current location in website pages or how far they are from the homepage. This make users feel in control of their website browsing use as they can follow the trails of the breadcrumbs if they need to go back to the previous pages. Web designers should use familiar keyword categories in order to help out users when browsing your product pages. Product Categories – This is great for ecommerce websites with more than one product to sell to the public. Product Categories sets an organized atmosphere for your products which makes it easier to navigate. Individual Product’s Page – From the product categories page, it should land as to where the list of products is with links going to the pages of the individual products. As for design, it is highly recommended that you use simpler designs of layout which promotes better conversion. Use simple font styles and sizes that are readable, too, so that it could easily be understood. Avoid using very bright colors as this turns off users. Product Title – Product Titles should be written in a way were users will be able to read the product name and a little description to capture more attention and drive more sales. For example, instead of writing “Cosmos Leather Bag” adding some descriptive words in the product name like “Cosmos Vintage Brown Leather Gadget Bag for Women”. This does not only add interest to those who read it but it actually aids your website to rank in these terms in search engines. Product Description – To be able to sell your products better, do the sales talking by writing the accurate product description. Use keywords that represent the product better. Product Photos – Adding photos of a product is very essential to a product page as this gives users a good idea as to what they are about to buy. Price – Always have the price attached to your product page as this is what most consumers take a look at every time they go on online shopping. Update your pricing immediately should you change prices to not confuse your users. Quantity Dropdown Box – This is very handy for consumers who will want to purchase more than one product. Color Selection Dropdown Box – If you are selling bags, clothes, shoes, and even gadgets and equipment, consumers will want to see if you have other colors available other than the ones they see from the photos. Add To Cart Button – Add to Cart button should be functioning as it should. Once the consumers are considering purchasing the product or products, they can readily check their shopping cart and proceed to payment. This function also allows consumers to continue shopping without dropping the items they have already selected. Buy Now Button – Buy Now button is very convenient for users who are ready to purchase products from the product page. This should lead to a one-page checkout page to initiate fast transaction process. Building an online shopping website’s products page can sometimes be overlooked by web designers as most of them focus on the homepage. While creating a website that captures the attention of users from the homepage, web designers should try to increase the purchasing decision of users while in the products page to make a sale.
