According to a report compiled by an entertainment industry’s trade group, Entertainment Software Association, gaming companies sold upto 257 Mn videos and computer games in year 2010. Videogames affects the person's brain in a better way. Scientists and researchers claim that playing online games can bring changes to the behavior, perception and cognitive skills of the person. . A new study reveals that by playing online games, people improve their Multi-tasking ability as well as Decision-making ability. These games even boost creativity in children and offer other neural benefits too.
Some scientists are now even turning the commercial games themselves into laboratories of learning. Most researchers studied the effects of gaming on small groups of volunteers, who learned to play under laboratory conditions. According to a study, people who love to play online action–based games are 25% faster in making decisions, which are accurate too. A proficient gamer can make better decision, 4 times faster than most people. People become more attentive to details and their perceptions are quite accurate too. By playing free online games, one can also improve their hand-eye coordination and can make their vision movement swifter.
Mark Blair, Research Scientist at Simon Fraser University, Columbia analyzed the behavior of 150,000 people who played the popular online game called StarCraft II. He pulled out more than 1.5 billion data points on perception, attention, movement and second-by-second decision-making. He hopes that by analyzing these points he would be able to learn that how people become experts in an online world and how new knowledge and experience can become a second nature of them, which could even be integrated into the manner in which we react to the world around us.
