The Los Angeles Times recently featured the sightseeing tours offered at the Esperanza, an Auberge Resort and Spa located in Cabo San Lucas, which lies in Mexico’s Baja California. Guests at the resort can enjoy a wide variety of activities, namely swimming with whale sharks this winter in the Gulf of California, thanks to a newly organized sea life program that will be offered throughout the month of March. |
The whale shark excursion involves an eight-hour seal life exploration trip and is reportedly one of several new aquatic adventure programs that are now being offered by the resort. Local ocean conservation groups will also receive a portion of all proceeds earned from booking the excursions, so guests can also feel good about contributing to preservation efforts.
“Because of our relationships with local guides, guests can explore the waters of our seaside location, while also giving back to oceanic organizations,” shared Esperanza’s General Manager Marc Rodriguez.
The resort’s new aquatic adventure program takes place on prime Cabo San Lucas real estate near La Paz, which is the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Here, the whale sharks come to feed on the rich plankton that can be found here each winter while visiting their annual breeding grounds located in the Gulf, which is also known as the Sea of Cortez.
Guests who choose to experience this unique sea life exploration trip will get to wear wet suits and use snorkel equipment for their swim with the whale sharks. They will also have the opportunity to dabble in underwater photography and videography, according to the LA Times. These amazing and gentle creatures can reach up to 40 feet in length and are located using the help of spotter planes and experienced guides, but are virtually harmless to humans.
Other activities for guests who are visiting Cabo real estate include sailing, sportfishing, snorkeling or playing a round of golf at one of the area’s five championship golf courses, to name only a few. This January, the Esperanza Resort was named on Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List, which features the world’s best hotels and resorts, as well as on Travel + Leisure’s list of the Top 500 World’s Best Hotels. Travel + Leisure also named the Esperanza Spa as the number three spa in all of Mexico on its October 2012 list of the World’s Best Spas.
