‘Richard Rogers RA: Inside Out’ will be held at the Royal Academy’s Burlington Gardens from 18 July – 13 October 2013. The exhibition, which corresponds with Rogers’ 80th birthday, will highlight the social, political and cultural values conveyed through his iconic architecture. Rogers’ work is known for exploring themes and ideas with a much broader scope than conventional architectural thinking. His peripherall work as a spokesperson, writer, politician and activist have earned him a great deal of respect and praise internationally. The exhibition will reflect on important periods of Rogers’ life, including his family, his education, his experiences of wartime and post-war Britain, and the effects that new American architecture had on him. Regarding the upcoming exhibition, Richard Rogers commented: “For almost 300 years the Royal Academy has been at the heart of London’s artistic life, acting as a crucible for vital critical discourse and as one of the world’s leading exhibition spaces. I am delighted to have worked alongside the Royal Academy to hold this exhibition. I believe history judges us on the physical and social quality of our cities, and this exhibition aims to explore the role of architecture both as a physical discipline and as a framework to interpret our wider society.” You can find more information about this exciting exhibition here. - Robbie Westacott
