Members of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA)Canada from across all sectors of the Canadian recreational boatingindustry gathered on Parliament Hill in Ottawa for the first-everRecreational Boating Day on the Hill to advocate on behalf of theindustry"s more than 100,000 Canadian marine industry workersand Canada"s 10 million recreational boaters. Industry participants attending the Day on the Hill will includeboat, engine and marine accessory manufacturers, boat dealers andmarine trade associations, among others. With the start to boating season well underway, the RecreationalBoating Day on the Hill provides members of the Canadianrecreational boating industry with a platform to meet with a rangeof elected and government officials, engaged on policy issues ofimportance and relevance to Canada"s recreational boatingsector. The Day on the Hill allows the industry an opportunity tocommunicate with Parliamentarians on key issues impacting thesector and to detail the industry"s approximate $15.6 billioneconomic impact on the Canadian economy. In particular, industry representatives will highlight for federalofficials Canadians" longstanding appreciation for andinvolvement in recreational boating activities and, the importanceof federal tourism and economic development measures which canserve to expand the $5 billion dollar (est.) impact boating has onCanada"s national tourism sector.
