Differences Between SEO and Digital Marketing

Although, in theory, the concept of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ties in to the whole Digital Marketing market, it is not quite the same thing. There are pretty big differences between running an SEO campaign, and a Digital Marketing campaign.

What suits you better all comes down to the size of your business, the feasibility of your supplies, what you sell or offer, and your budget. However, you should consider both at first and speak to businesses who can offer you both, as it’s easier to get a more balanced perspective from somebody who can offer you both services.

SEO mainly covers trying to get yourself spotted more on the Search Engines. This means, usually, having to re-write your website and get it in a position where the text is clinical and precise, and offers the read easy navigation and also gets the right amount of mentions of your specific keywords. This is a pretty long-term operation and can take some time before you see any real results, but it’s worth it if you can get yourself to the top of the rankings for whatever it is you offer. The sheer power of the Search Engines, with billions of unique searches every day, means that you can create instant authority and start converting at a higher rate with a more functional website. You will be taken as the first choice if you sit atop the pile for your keywords, so it can be a very powerful method of marketing.

Digital Marketing, however, covers a much broader concept. Although some Digital Marketing campaigns also involve SEO campaigns, it is usually more to do with more striking methods of advertisement. E-commerce stores to push through sales without any cold calling or hard selling are a dream to most businesses. Banner adverts across the internet is another big part of digital marketing, and can put yourself in a situation where you are creating multiple streams of traffic from across the internet, with your finger in more than one pie.

Another big part of Digital Marketing, at least with some businesses, is customer reviews. This is a huge part of some businesses, and having your positive reviews as a shining beacon of positivity about your business can only be a good thing. This, again, can be a longer-term process as you need to set up profiles with local directories, and get genuine customer reviews from your clients, and then let them be found by the Search Engines and generate even more authority on your part.

Digital Marketing offers a much broader, and usually expensive, method of marketing but it does cover many more areas.
