Nursing is indubitably the most prominent profession now a day. To be more precise, it has always been quite a notable professional but lately it has garnered further prominence and popularity due to some reasons. In this article, I will highlight some of the most important aspects regarding nursing, and this piece essentially will be the guideline for the youngsters aspiring to become a nurse. Evolution of nursing: Nursing profession has witnessed an intense evolution lately. From job description to qualification of becoming a nurse, everything has changed substantially. For example, few decades ago there would be a training to become a nurse, and people who would obtain that training would be qualified to get into nursing. On the contrary, these days’ nurses have to do either graduation or masters in nursing . The main reason behind this evolution is the evolution in the field of medical. As developments transpired in the field of medical, field of nursing was also effected big time. From the job description of just pushing the chair of an old man to assisting doctors in the most complex medical matters, nursing has certainly come a long way. Personality traits require becoming a nurse: If you think only good academic past and passing out in flying colors in nursing degree or winning a nursing scholarship makes you a perfect candidate to become a nurse, trust me you are at fault. There are certain personality traits which are essential to get into the nursing profession and excelling in it. Below are some of the personality traits: Firstly, if you happen to be an introvert then nursing is certainly not the profession for you. Being a nurse, you might have to deal with the patients and most importantly with their families. There are times when things are bit hard and you will have to console the family of patient. And to do this all one has to be an extrovert and posses excellent communication skills. Secondly, if you are weak by heart and cannot stand blood, wounds and dead bodies; give up the idea of getting into nursing. Nursing is all about being around injured patients and blood and one must have a heart big enough to stand all these things. Present of nursing profession: These days, there is a shortage of nurses. And according to some analysis this shortage is likely to get worse towards the 2020 as number of nurses retiring will be higher than the number of nurses being hired. However, combating with this shortage is not the rocket science. This can be done by making nursing profession more rewarding and making it more feasible for the women. This profession was considered to be something exclusive for the women but now a day men are equally interested in it. First step towards combating the nursing shortage could be having more and better nursing colleges . There used to be a time when nursing colleges and universities would be the forte of European countries but this is not the situation anymore.
