Advertisement has become a very essential part of any business firm and no business can increase its sale until and unless it advertises its products in public forums. More so, advertising is also required to remind the existing customers about the product and grab the attention of new customers so as to boost up sales. Advertisements through banners and newspapers are very expensive these days and they also have low retention value. So for that, companies are going more for advertisement and promotion of the product through merchandise. There are now a number of firms who deal in promoting other companies by manufacturing different products. Promotional merchandised can be ordered from the Internet or in any of the street retail or wholesale stores.

There are several types of promotional and merchandise that are available in the market. The companies can offer free gifts to its patrons after they make any purchases of the company's products. The free gifts should contain the name of the company and thus that will prove to be promotional and merchandise. The promotional and merchandise can be a pen, key chain, wristbands, sport products, plastic containers etc. The customer may use the free gift or may pass it on to somebody else. In this way, the consumer will be continuously reminded about the company's product and the company's name will also become well known if the gift is passed on to others.

It is not necessary that promotional and merchandise should only be given after the purchase of the product. The company may even organize contests and can distribute promotional and merchandise as goodies. Business forms may even provide yearly free promotional and merchandise to its regular customer. In this way, there will be an increase in the loyalty of the existing customers towards the product and the company will also become popular in the market. However, it is recommended that companies provide such promotional and merchandise those synchronies with the company's product. For example, if a company deals in milk powder then they should provide milk glasses as promotional merchandise.

Promotional merchandise ensures longer exposure and retention value of company's products. Promotional merchandise even draws people attention as such items are generally offered for free and people do want those free products. It is less expensive than promotions done through banners, newspaper and magazines. Promotional merchandise has a wider exposure, as it may be one person who uses the merchandise, but several other people that come in contact with that person see the merchandise.
