Several new figures have been released that underline the extent of the accommodation costs in London. A new poll that was conducted by the Chartered Institute of Housing, clearly points out that a lot of Londoners are stressed out regarding the prices of houses, and how much higher the costs in London are, in comparison to other parts of the country. The deep anxiety that individuals residing in the area feel, is nothing new. Figures compiled by MORI, earlier on in the month showed that there are roughly thirty six percent of people that are concerned that they will not have enough money to be able to pay their rent, or cover their mortgage payments. Forty five percent of people are worried that by the same time next year, they will no longer be able to make their payments for their living quarters on time. Fifty three percent of Londoners have to deal with an immense amount of stress, by the costs of their accommodations. Individuals residing in greater and central London, are having to deal with the most problems. In comparison to the rest of the country, where prices have begun to decline, the prices to live in London, continue to increase. The average citizens that are concerned about the increases is roughly twenty three percent. Individuals that worry about what the next year will bring are thirty three percent. People that are simply stressed out about the present as well as the future, is sitting at thirty six percent. These figures from other areas of the world, are still pretty high. However, in comparison to the fears that people in London have, concerning housing and costs, these figures are actually lower. Graina Long, who is the CIH chief executive, has been attempting to focus on the concerns that individuals have regarding the increasing housing costs. She has acknowledged how worried people are about the costs, continuously increasing. She has described the increases as being extremely disturbing. The forty five percent figure, only proves that London is presently in the center of a ticking time bomb. She predicts that the worry that citizens living within the area has, will continue to carry on in this same manner, for decades to come. This will be due in part, by the failure to build enough homes to accommodate all of the people within the region. This poll comes into perspective from calculations that were made by HomeLet.
