Design is Everywhere - London Design Festival 2013

The power of design is palpable in London this week – with trade fairs, events, talks, site-specific installation art, workshops and international showcases of design, coming together to explore the innate creativity that sustains everyday aesthetics…

London Design Festival that envelopes and involves almost every single person – professional and lay, introducing him, seducing him and involving him a little deeper into the multi-creative realm that is termed ‘design’, is back with over 300 events and exhibitions that include international participationsfrom Sweden, Argentina, Mexico, France, Korea, India, Australia, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Norway, Russia, Portugal, Italy, Taiwan, Slovenia, Turkey among others.

At regional hubs like Chelsea, Clerkenwell, Brompton, Shoreditch and Fitzrovia, where art and design abound from the local milieu that integrates itself into the heightened fabric of creativity, we have must do’s like the ZahaHadid gallery tour of her marvellous architectural models at Clerkenwell; bespoke furniture and products with the onus on interior design at Chelsea; and 18 events taking place in the heart of central London at Fitzrovia from showing works of promising new designers to manufacturing processes to a large glass installation outside the Building Centre and lots more…

V & A adds the perfect flavour with a surreal light installation by Canadian designer Omer Arbel in association with Bocci, which descends through the first floor of the museum, through a void in the floor, right down 30 metres to the grand entrance – reportedly, “the most ambitious exploration to date of a novel glass blowing technique”.

Tom Dixon opens his studio to six young designers for a ‘flash market’ besides the first unveiling of his new collaboration with sports gear giant Adidas. Then there’s Tent London and100% Design, packed with the latest product launches, ideas, designs and technology - for the best in contemporary design from homegrown and overseas talent; Southbank Centre and Designersblock with its international pavilions, a very special show titled “Fifth Element” and the installation of the largest lava lamp in the world; for the art and design ravers, Tate Modern’s visually and architecturally stunning installation – “Endless Stair” and several pockets of the city that offer something unique and contribute to the real and surreal moods of design.

While it is difficult to list all the attractions and not-to-misses; here are some links for you to follow through:
