Top 10 Things to Remember for a Safe Travel

Travel & Tourism
Traveling isn’t always ¬rainbows and cotton candies. This is a rigid fact that everyone should know. No place in this world is completely safe, so travelers should remain vigilant at all times. Theft is one of the most common incidents that could happen in a foreign place so people should always bear in mind various tips to dodge off the unfortunate possibility.

Here are some tips:

1. Travel in groups
When traveling with a group, it is easy for thieves and pickpockets to find an opportunity to execute their evil plans. This is because people within the group tend to look after each other. Theft will be discouraged then since it will most likely be caught easily. This is why many still prefer booking travel packages.

2. Book a hotel which security is assured. Check the forums. Ask people.
Find out which hotels are secured and safe. Rooms should have a safety box where you can keep your important things when you’re away. The lock should also be working, and CCTV cameras are present in every corner. Security officials should always be accessible too. It may add up a little to your budget, but at least that will save you from losing everything else.

3. Pack light
You don’t have to bring the whole closet when you’re traveling. Or if you can’t help it, bring a smaller bag you can use when going around. This will help reduce the impression that there are many valuable things thieves can take away from you.

4. Downgrade your gadgets
Instead of bringing out your latest smartphone in the public, bring a much cheaper one – something that you won’t mind even if it’s taken away. If it’s the pictures you’re thinking, you can just bring a good but cheap camera too. Remember, being flashy with gadgets attracts thieves and pickpockets.

5. Use smaller bills
Bringing out large bills when you’re in the public creates the impression that you’ve got more, and so bad elements come to you. Thus, familiarize yourself with the foreign currencies and make sure that you have smaller bills in your pocket. For additional security, separate your cash and make use of every pocket in your attire. It is also best to keep a secret pocket in your undergarments.

6. Bring photocopies of important documents instead of bringing the originals around
When possible, just keep your original documents in your safe at the hotel. That way, you won’t have a bigger problem in case something unfortunate comes up.

7. Don’t trust people easily
In foreign places, it is normal to be approached by strangers. But if they get too nice without any reason, leave politely. Being nice to people and experiencing culture is entirely different from biting the bait to theft. To avoid this more, it is better to learn even a bit of the local language so you will have even the slightest idea as to what the strangers are, or will be, talking about.

8. Don’t make it obvious that you’re a foreigner
This is one of the most basic tips to dodge off thefts and pickpockets. Remember, these bad people target only those who think are easy. If you don’t seem like a tourist, would they even come to you? Chances are yes, but still, looking like you know the ways and all in the place would somehow discourage them.

9. Avail travel insurance
Whatever happens, you’ll be sure that you’ll be redeemed from the despair of losing something valuable. This is additional cost; but if it’s going to secure you, why not avail?

10. Put trackers on your gadgets if possible
You need not to be from CIA, but there’s a possible way to put a tracker on your phone, or other gadgets. Smartphones have these applications free for download which informs the owner of the whereabouts of the phone, should it be stolen.

Definitely, safety should be the top priority when traveling so better bear in mind all the tips stated above. Consult your top travel agent for more possible securities they could provide for a more enjoyable and unforgettable experience.
