Call for Ceramics Proposals March 12, 2012 Distinguished Ceramists : Sincere greetings from Changchun, the sculpture capital of China In order to vigorously flourish the world ceramics art and promotethe development of urban ceramics construction, Changchun MunicipalPeople s Government has successfully held the 1st ChangchunInternational Ceramics symposium in 2011, and 12 noted ceramistsfrom 10 countries were accepted and invited to participate in itand created excellent ceramics works for our city Changchun, awell-known culture city in northeast China. From next late July to mid-August, 2012, Changchun MunicipalPeople s Government will hold the 2nd China ChangchunInternational Ceramics Symposium, with the theme of Eternal andclassic traveling across history and future , for further promotinginternational cultural exchanges, improving the cultural taste ofthe city as well as increasing the city s international influenceand popularity. About 20 ceramists will be accepted to participatein this event. We sincerely invite you to submit proposals to the 2nd ChinaChangchun International Ceramics Symposium. We d like you to: 1. Deliver at least 3 or more ceramics proposals based on theSymposium s theme, which are requested to reflect the theme andthe distinctive ethical and regional characteristics of yourcountry or region. Two of the ceramics proposals should be no lessthan 80cm (in length) 80cm(in width) 80cm (in height) in order to achieve the exhibition effect of the ceramicssymposium. 2. Specify the materials dimensions and colors of the proposedworks. Please deliver A4 size colored design drafts or photographsof maquettes of your proposals and their digital files in JPEG, BMPor TIF format. The digital photo should be no less than 1megabytes. 3. Fill in the attached registration form and enclose your passportphoto, your recent daily photo and your resume. The digital photois no less than 1 megabytes. Your ceramics portfolio is alsoappreciated. 4. If any of your proposals gets approved by the Organizing Committee,you will receive an official invitation to Changchun for creatingit on site from late August to September 8, 2012. We will provideyou with round-trip economic flight tickets (only from yourresidential city to Changchun), an allowance of 8000 yuan (RMB),free accommodation in Changchun, common processing tools,assistants and interpreters, as well as honor diplomas. Besides,some seminars on ceramists creation concept and some tours aroundthe city will be arranged. All the completed ceramics works will bepermanently owned and collected by the institution of ChangchunMunicipal People s Government. The organizing committee will provide ceramists with worksite and following equipments and materials: A. Three gas shuttle kilns ( 1m ? / 0.5m ? / 0.15m ?), two electrical kilns ( 0.35m ? / 0.1m ?), and one wood-burning kiln. B. Potter s wheels, slab roller, stoving chest, pugmill. C. Jilin crock clay, Zibo earthware clay, Zibo porcelain clay. D. More than thirty types of slips, twenty types of glaze and tentypes of chemical reagent.
