Timuri Prayer Rugs On the Iran-Afgan border you can find some very interesting tribes called Aimaq. They are also called Timuri and this is where the name of the rugs is coming. The main colour used in their rugs is blue-brown, but when it comes to patterns, you can see various designs and ideas. The main pattern consists borders and panels. The borders tend to become larger in the centre of the carpet and give certain uniqueness to the Timuri rugs. The materials used for these carpets are ivory warps, two-cord selvages and brown wefts. Every rug's end has an asymmetrical knot, which is used to signify the tribe. It's deeper meaning is that they will never separate.
