The first shaft collar produced in series were used in the first factories in the transmission tree: it was rigid collars with protruding set screws. Just that boss determined the main difficulties of application: it was considered very dangerous because its rotation could cling to the clothing of the workers, dragging them into the machine. Improvements came in the early 900 with the invention of SPS Technologies, who invented the first collar with grub screws recessed head: this patent soon became the benchmark in the sector.
