Is Shared Hosting Right For Me How much time do you spend messing with your sites files? Do you know what you are doing when you are in the CPanel of a site? Most people don’t know how a server really works and it is because of that I recommend you just get shared hosting. Now, is shared hosting right for you? Shared hosting is perfect for anybody just starting out with a website. If you run a small website that doesn’t get much traffic, then shared hosting is a great way to go. The only reason I tell people to get their own personal hosting or buy a server is because they have too much traffic, or they house personal information from their members. Just know that if you don’t meet one of those criteria, then a personal hosting account or server is not needed. How Much Traffic Do You Get? Do you have so much traffic that you don’t know what to do with it all? Do you get 100,000 visitors per day? Maybe you don’t get that much traffic, but you do get 1,000 visitors per day. If you are getting less than 20,000 visitors to your site per day then you probably will be just fine with a shared hosting account. Shared hosting is still very secure and safe, but it can become rather slow if too many people are trying to access it at the exact same time. It is because of this that shared hosting is not for everybody, but like I said, if you have limited amount of traffic then it might be the best option for you. Do You Need More Security On Your End? Are you a bank looking to give account information over the internet? Maybe you run a clothing website and take orders over the internet. Both of these would sites would work best on a personal server, but most people don’t need added security to keep their business safe. If you don’t need more security that you already have, then just stick with a shared hosting account, as it is just as safe and much cheaper. Do You Sell Websites For A Living? Do you sell any of your websites, or do you plan on selling some in the future? I ask this because people who sell websites for a living are perfect for their own server or personal hosting account. I say this because transferring files from one hosting account to another one is much easier if you have quick access to the server. Starting out with shared hosting is something that I strongly recommend. If you are not sure which hosting account would be best for you then just go with shared hosting and see how it works for a while. These are just some reasons why you would need a Server of your own, but just know that a personal server will be much more expensive.
