With countless varieties that can be made margaritas remain one of the most popular types of cocktails that can be made. A drink which is made by mixing tequila, Cointreau/similar orange-flavoured liqueur and lime/lemon juice, margaritas are often blended with ice (frozen margaritas), with ice (on the rocks) or without any ice at all (straight up). Many different flavored liqueurs may be used while making these drinks such as vodka, triple sec, blue curacao, Grand Marnier or Grand Gala. Very often, many sweetener fruit juices or even freshly pureed fruits are added which reduce the flavor of the liqueur. Some of the different fruits that are used include peach, mango, melon, strawberry, raspberry and banana. Many of these juices also include a splash of orange juice. There are many other ‘secondary’ liqueurs may also be added such as black-raspberry or melon-flavored ones. One of the most important ingredients while making these drinks is the addition of freshly squeezed lime juice. Those margaritas that are made using lemon often have a sweeter taste. These drinks are often served in a number of glasses. However, one of the most noteworthy is the stereotypical margarita glass which a variant of the Champagne coupe. Margaritas are also served in standard cocktail glasses (stemmed glasses with a cone-shaped bowl that is either rounded or completely flat at the bottom and placed upon a stem above a flat base) or in old-fashioned glasses. These glasses are often mistaken with martini glasses; although they differ in many different ways. While martini glasses have larger, wider bowls which are conical at the bottom; cocktail glasses are smaller and have narrow bowls which are rounded or have flat bottoms. Vodka cocktail are especially popular for their versatility and ability to mix well with both juices as well as carbonic drinks (aerated drinks).
