A good payroll specialist is as good with numbers as they are with people. They know how to provide accurate reporting, and they can provide checks or direct deposit services. Sadly, there are many fictional characters from pop culture who didn't make use of these helpful services. If these characters had access to a seasoned paycheck specialist, their lives likely would have been much less stressful. Michael Bluth, "Arrested Development" Michael Bluth was "the good son" of the Bluth family. The family ran a real estate development firm that struggled to stay solvent amid a myriad of scandals. One issue the company had was with paying employees. The company's situation was so bad that "Nellie" had to pay overdue Bluth Co. employee paychecks from a secret account. A payroll specialist could have processed payments more professionally and provided the employees of Bluth Co. with some much-needed peace of mind. Lynette Scavo, "Desperate Housewives" During Season 3 of "Desperate Housewives," Lynette opened a pizzeria with her husband, Tom. This put a lot of stress on both their marriage and their business, particularly after Tom injured his back and could no longer help run the pizza place. An outside company could have helped this fledgling business by taking care of the stress and paperwork associated with paying employees on time. King Robert Baratheon, "Game of Thrones" The fictional kingdoms of Westeros may not have payroll specialists, but they really could have used some. King Robert Baratheon may not be running a corporation, but he does pay a lot of salaries. He has two people in his service that act like financial specialists, but neither is very effective. The "Master of Coin," Petyr Baelish, is corrupt. The Hand of the King, Ned Stark, is ineffective at stopping King Robert from falling further into debt with the Lannister clan. A proper employee compensation professional could have been instrumental in assuring the financial stability of Westeros. Tom Haverford, "Parks and Recreation" Over the course of the NBC series "Parks and Rec," Tom Haverford has had a number of creative business ideas, including running an "entertainment conglomerate" and an upscale clothing rental business for teens. While Tom did get better at running businesses over the years, his entertainment conglomerate E720 would have greatly benefitted from the advice of a payroll specialist. He quickly went bankrupts due to his poorly conceived compensation practices. Tom might be good with finances, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have benefitted from an outside opinion. The Gang, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" "The Gang" is a group of guys who own a bar together in Philadelphia. Given their self-destructive tendencies and unprofessional behavior, it is clear that some kind of payroll expert would help them to manage their earnings and outgoing payments far more professionally.
