The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an examination that aims to assess the proficiency of an examinee in the English language. This test is usually taken by people who will be working, studying, or migrating to a place where English is the primary language used for communication. It has 48 test dates annually, and examinees can choose between two versions: Academic or General, depending on what is required of them. The examination measures the capacity of the examinee in four areas, listening, writing, reading, and speaking. The IELTS Academic Exam is a more comprehensive exam as it measures the proficiency that is needed for the academe. On the other hand, the IELTS General Exam focuses more on the practical uses of the language; how well one can communicate both in written and oral forms once they are already in the English-speaking country they desire to go to. There are several review centers that offer IELTS courses, both online and otherwise. These courses are often conducted in order to help a person prepare for IELTS. Online courses are highly popular because of the convenience with which people can take the classes, even at the comfort of their own homes. These are usually divided depending on the time and level of preparation needed by the examinee to be mentally ready for the exam. As is the structure of the examination, IELTS courses are also (more often than not) divided into four segments - reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The reading course targets the development of a person's comprehension of an article, story, or passage that they are reading. It teaches strategies on how to read in a fast and efficient manner so as to get the answers correctly. Aside from this, the reading course helps improve the vocabulary of a person, which is often helpful for context clues. Meanwhile, the writing course helps a person to construct essays or letters in an understandable, well-constructed manner. It teaches the correct use of words, phrases, and punctuations, as well as the correct and recommended form in constructing these things. The listening and speaking courses are the practical parts of the examination, and also those that will be most helpful in an English-speaking environment. These two courses go hand in hand. The listening course develops the capacity of a person to grasp words and answer them concisely, while the speaking course helps a person form coherent sentences that will allow them to communicate effectively with the people.
