Just Right Approach of Carpet Cleaning for Better Removal of Reappearing Stains

Home Improvement,Family & Parenting,Crafts
Many times, the spot has seeped into the backing of the carpet. This is common with pet urine, beverages, and anything that is spilled in large volume on carpets. The material dries in the backing and the pad of the carpet. When the carpet spot is cleaned, only the material in the "pile" of the carpet is removed. However, moisture is introduced into the backing of carpet. As the spot dries, the material that is in the backing wicks back into the pile.

When the carpet is cleaned, it looks good. When it dries, the spots and traffic areas come back. The good news is that if a spot actually wicks back, it can be removed. When spot cleaning, place a folded white terry cloth towel over the spot just after you clean it while the spot is still moist. Place a heavy object on top of the cloth.

When you have your carpet cleaned professionally, be sure to point out spots that have wicked back in the past, so they can be treated properly.

There are two reasons that carpet spots return.

The first is reason is called wicking. Wicking is rarer when you have had your carpet professionally cleaned due simply to the volume of water which can be used to flush the spot out as well as the ability to pull more of that water back out of your carpet. If standard professional cleaning is not enough to solve the problem trained technicians and industry leading equipment are capable of applying a host of other methods, including sub-surface extraction, to not only remove your spot but keep it gone as well.To avoid a wicking issue altogether and prevent spots from reoccurring, you might want to take further action even after you think you've thoroughly cleaned a spot from your carpet. While the area is still damp, fold a white cotton rag multiple times then use it to cover the stain. Once you have covered the cloth with a waterproof covering, such as a piece of plastic, place something heavy – such as a stack of books – over the stain. The stain will "wick" up from the carpet backing and through the carpet fibers to the cloth. After doing this, remove any remaining spots from the carpet surface.

The second reason carpet spots return is re-soiling. Re-soiling is caused by a sticky residue that has been left behind. The residue may be from the spot itself, the cleaner that was used, or both. Some common residue causes are over-the-counter carpet cleaners purchased at the grocery store. Avoid using these carpet cleaners altogether. If you have to use one of these carpet cleaners, use as little as possible and rinse with water thoroughly.

Other residue causes include oily spots: duct tape residue, body oils, lotions, etc. If the entire oily residue is not removed, it will attract soil as the carpet is walked on. Even quality professional carpet cleaning may not be able to remove all oily residues the first time. In both cases the residue by its self is not generally visible, however the dirt and dust that sticks to it and doesn't release to your regular vacuuming becomes the visible spot. Proper spot cleaning techniques become very important when attempting to eliminate residue spots.

Whatever the cause of your reappearing spot or spots professionally trained technicians have the know how and will put forth the effort to remove your stains for good!
