HARMAN’s new community, developer.harman.com, to provide application developers opportunities to innovate today’s entertainment experiences on iconic audio brands such as Harman Kardon IFA 2014, BERLIN AND STAMFORD, CT– HARMAN, the premium audio and infotainment group (NYSE:HAR), announced today the company’s first community focused on enabling innovative connected HARMAN products. The APIs for HARMAN’s lifestyle products – which include the Harman Kardon®, JBL®, AKG® and Infinity® brands – will be made available through software development kits (SDKs) hosted on the community site, developer.harman.com, later this fall. Developers working on media streaming, audio applications, and advanced connected applications for IoT (Internet of Things) will find the new HARMAN community particularly relevant. “From the world's first stereo receiver to the first concert hall loudspeaker, our legendary brands have been responsible for changing the way people experience premium audio,” said IP Park, EVP and Chief Technology Officer, HARMAN. “Our developer community will fuel even more innovation and unlock new ways for consumers to access and customize their entertainment experiences and of course, ensure they have the best quality sound wherever they are using HARMAN technologies.” The first of many HARMAN SDKs will be for the Harman Kardon Wireless HD Audio System. Community members will have access to HARMAN brands, tools, resources and support to build, test and launch applications. The developer community site will also provide forums, community support, and documentation to help speed the development process. These assets allow developers to explore ways to enhance the Harman Kardon multi-room audio, potentially via new listening modes and tuning options, or other streaming services.
