The big day is fast approaching and you're in search of the perfect wedding destination. In addition to your attire, decorations, and music, the venue sets the tone for your wedding. However, not all wedding venues are created equal. Because the venue is the first thing your guests will see when they arrive, you'll want it to be spectacular. To ensure your location has everything you desire, ask the following critical questions 1. How many weddings will be booked on the day in question? You should never have to share your wedding day with another couple. However, some places try to save money by hosting two or more weddings or events on the same day. Since it takes time to decorate and prepare the facility for an event, you'll want to ensure that your wedding is the only event that will take place that day at your particular venue. 2. Does the location have a facility director? While not all places offer them, many provide a facility director. A facility director is the go-to person on your wedding day, should anything go wrong. The location may offer a facility director for free or it may cost extra for this service. This service can be extremely useful and can take a great deal of stress off of you on your special day. 3. How long can I use the rental space? Many wedding venues will give you a minimum or maximum rental time. You'll want to consider how long your ceremony and/or reception will be and if the facility will provide you with sufficient time. You'll also want to determine if there are any fees if you go over the maximum amount of time. 4. How many people can the space accommodate? Before you search for wedding venues, you'll want to have a general idea of how many guests will be attending. Many facilities will only allow a certain number of people based on fire codes and other factors. Always ask what the cutoff is when it comes to how many people can legally and comfortable fit. 5. Is there a shuttle service available? If you have guests that are coming from out of town, you may want to splurge on a shuttle service or other form of transportation. Some wedding venues will provide transportation to and from the airport, as well as from the ceremony to the reception if desired. 6. Do I have to choose from certain vendors? Some facilities may only work with certain vendors and will recommend that you use their set of vendors for your ceremony and/or reception. If you are have a certain florist, musician, or other vendor in mind, be sure that these outside vendors are allowed in the facility.
