An online information business is a business where you are teaching others how to do something you know how to do best, or teaching others a skill you have and perhaps they don’t have or are struggling with. For example, perhaps someone is good at communicating, that person could teach others how to communicate better, perhaps with their spouse, with their children, or at work. Or maybe someone has had good success helping others lose weight or get healthy, that person could build an information business teaching others how to lose weight or get healthy, and anyone can do it. It’s easy to learn how to do it, I mean, there are some specific steps, but they are really easy to learn. The key is really being willing to help others, and with an information business, what you are really doing is helping others. The information products – for example, a book, a audio teaching, a video, a coaching program, those are all just methods of delivering the information that helps people. How long does it take to build an information business online? I think of it as a bit like chess – anyone can build the basic foundation in a month or so, but frankly, to build out a real business that is viable long term, it might take 6 – 12 months. It is a lot like building an offline business, you know, a coffee shop or a sandwich shop, or a gym – with the offline businesses you to decide what business you are going to open, you have to find somewhere to put the business, you have to hire workers, and decorate the shop, etc. Well building an online business is much the same, you have to decide what you are going to teach, you have to figure out where you are going to put it, what website, etc, you have to create the training, then you have to tell people about it. So it’s not something where you just snap your fingers and it is there.
