Introduction: Who does not love a beautiful garden with beautiful flower trees and shades to spend some relaxing time with a cool breeze in summers. If renovating your garden and having some plan to have some big trees that would grow fast, needs low maintenance and will serve you long, then no doubt you are thinking about sycamore tree. Maintenance Some of the trees which provide such shade with thick trunks need much maintenance, but not sycamore tree. These trees are considered as one of the biggest and the fastest growing trees with an average size of 80 feet height and approx 40 feet wide with a single thick trunk. In favorable conditions, it is capable of growing 3 feet per year which is quite rapid. One of the amazing facts about this tree is this is air pollution resistant. I mean, these trees are not hampered by or affected by any of the effects of air pollution. How do they do it? Well, they regularly shred their bark so that the affected bark is shredded and new unaffected bark is revealed to function properly. This shredding of the bark makes its signature patterns on the trunk with gray, green, tan, brown colors which are known as mottled pattern. This is the beauty of the tree, the mottled patterns on the trunk. This is the reason why the tree can even grow in extreme conditions and even in urban or industrial areas. An interesting fact: The sycamore tree was once known as ‘buttonwood tree’ since its seed looks like a big button. But later on, with its scientific name, the name also changed. Though the trees look amazing with thick trunks, and are easily grown, these tree’s wood are not suitable for making house since they are not that strong. Conclusion: If you are looking for some tree that can grow fast, a tree that can provide your garden a good shade and that needs less maintenance, then it is nothing but a sycamore tree. The tolerant feature to urban pollution makes it favorable for any conditions. And the fact is, the tree, from its germination from seed, doesn’t need much maintenance.
