How Can Spilled Milk Be Cleaned in Carpet to Avoid the Sour Smell

Home Improvement,Family & Parenting,Health
If you spilled milk on the carpet don't waste time and start cleaning it right away.Spilled milk isn't that difficult to remove from your living room or automobile carpeting when it's fresh, but if you don't get all of it, or you don't clean it in time, it can spoil and create an overwhelming odor. Milk becomes most problematic when it soaks deeply into the pile and dries. When this happens, you may have to resort to a combination of treatments to get the stain out and deodorize.

Spilled milk on the carpet can leave very unpleasant stains and bad odour behind, if you don't take immediate actions to remove it. Sour milk leaves a strong odor that can become overwhelming. Fortunately, there are a variety of items that can be used to remove the odor quickly and nearly effortlessly.

Cleaning spilled milk from the carpet won't be too difficult to do, if you know the proper methods and techniques to do it. Read on to find out what to do.

Take out a stack of paper towels or regular clean towel and blot the spilled milk. Remove as much of the excessive liquid as possible before proceeding to the next phase of carpet cleaning.Take out one clean cloth or towel and dampen it slightly with cold water. Now scrub the area of the carpet where you spilled the milk to remove as much of the milk from the fibres as you can. Once you've done this, take out a clean dry cloth and wipe the area dry.Repeat the process several times until you are sure that there is no more milk left into the fabrics. Now sprinkle some cornstarch over the area on which you spilled the milk. The cornstarch should absorb any remains of milk and make the spot to dry faster.

Alternatively, you can use baking soda. After you've done that, let the cornstarch (or baking soda) to sit for at least half an hour before vacuum over the area. If there is any remaining stain on the carpet after you've done all that, you would have to change the tactics. Use this simple stain removing method. Squeeze lemon juice over the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then clean the spot with clean damp cloth and sprinkle baking soda over the area. Leave overnight and vacuum the next day. The stain should be gone.

Removing Dried Up Milk You often don't have the luxury of getting to the stain while it's fresh, which means that you're dealing with dried milk and, if the spill has been there long enough, an odor. The first order of business is to remove as much of the dried milk as possible. Scrape it with a dull knife to remove any milk that flakes off; then wet the remainder with water and scrub it with laundry soap paste and a toothbrush and rinse. Be sure to use cold water; warm water will set the stain and increase the odor. You can also blot the stain away, using paper towels and isopropyl alcohol
