The issue of redundancy or Retrenchment has had a live record of being happening on the mines on one side of the country but records show that mines and companies are downsizing all over the nation. And this also is the routine all over the globe, its redundancy, redundancy, retrenchment, retrenchment all over whether urban and rural.

In all of these happenings even if you don’t want, you will find yourself personalising the incident. Yes, this is inevitable and it’s really personal. Being dismissed or terminated whilst others remain, even if all that mine or company have been served redundancy? - It’s your job that has been affected, your income, your colleagues, your class, your routine - and it’s been taken away from you or it’s about to be taken away. In a way it's not fair. You feel a sense of loss, and that it has derailed your best laid down plans about your career future path and plans, or your financial inflow and strategy, your wealth accumulation strategy - and for sure it hurts.

It is personal and you are quite normal and entitled to feel down or whatever way you might feel about it. This is where I advise that preparing for such well ahead of time is the best idea and that it is very possible. It is advisable not to wait until you have been served with a redundancy package? You can do something positive well ahead of time…..Rather than being negative about the whole issue and process whilst you can. But don`t take this and upload it on yourself. Remember also that this is a redundancy of your position/role in the organisation- not a redundancy of you! My other important advice is for you not to take it out on your employer or family. At the same time though, you have been subject to a corporate decision that may be based on something over which you have had very little control over the decision reached. Most often these reasons range among economic, financial, strategic, change of management, all these corporately contribute for such decisions to be arrived at. In most cases they come up unfavourable…but don`t load it all on yourself to blame, no.

Yes, I am aware when you were at your usual workplace you had maybe neglected considering introspection of the future as you have been too busy working very early and late every day. And you remained living to worry about your day to day work only without thinking about such a time as you are in now or will be in the near future or even later. Whatever way and time, still this redundancy is real and one day it will knock at your door.

I would like to point to this too, that right now as you read this book or listen to this video/audio, there are others who are just doing that job they are doing, to just put food on the table yet it is not anything in the line of their passion. They don`t have a passion for it. Yes, you are leaving every morning going to the office or site and coming back every evening and at the end of the month get your pay check. Not that you are not doing your job well, no- most often your performance is far above average and your employer is embraced, yet you very well know inside yourself that you are not doing that job because you have a passion for it, No but you are doing that because it’s the job that is there to put food on your table for the family. The advice is you need to start your work, your home business whilst you are still at your place of jobbing where you are employed now. That place where you are working now is your practical training ground for learning the how tos of starting and establishing your own home business. It is not that difficult a thing to do, advice only is what is needed. Because everyone needs to be reminded, because we all know it that after working for a company or any organisation, if there are no economic constraints that will cause you to be served with a redundancy or retrenchment package before the end of your working years yet still retirement time or rather forced end of working years will soon catch up with you.

These days, with the way people are health and physically looking after themselves, many reach the end of working years when they are still active. And above all, being retired does not mean retired from feeding, clothing and all other life events people live with every now and then.

So it is mandatory that despite being served with a redundancy or not that we need to plan for our end of working years well in time. I have seen people who leave this to the last minute when they will be unable to walk the speed and work the extra hours any more as they used to.

What needs to be understood by all is that those who have managed to start some income generating streams at home for themselves, had to utilise the extra after work hours to make that happen. I mean this is the same trend even at schools, colleges and universities - why other students come up with high scores than others yet they all had same text books and modules, same instructors, lecturers and same library.
