Growing up all children seem to have an undying fascination with driving an automobile of some sort. This known desire contributed vastly to the invention of the pedal car. These are manually powered by a rider's feet and legs and was the first car that was actually environmentally friendly. These toy cars are available in many styles from tractors to sports cars and jeeps battery operated toy cars. Some History The first pedal car was thought to be a wooden horse of some kind sitting on four wheels that was rolled across the floor by pushing with one's legs and feet. Soon after, the horse and buggy design was available which had two seats and working pedals. This version even sported a set of reigns to guide the horse. Later, the enclosed bike was invented and it set the path for cars powered by the human body as a means of transportation. Every Child's Dream Whatever a child may dream of or imagine in a pedal car is usually available. The bodies of these toys can be any kind of vehicle or mode of transportation that is available today or was on the roads in the years past. Older model versions or retro toy cars even offer one complete with the dashboard made of wood and behind its seat the child will find a spare tire. Sophistication is accomplished with the sportier models in bright colors of red or hot pink and many times designs of flames may cover the automobiles. Many kids voice their ambitions of being a police officer or a fireman when they grow up and find great joy and entertainment in having a pedal car made like a police cruiser or a bright red fire engine. Usually the children growing up in the farming communities will want a car made like the tractor they see their parent using to provide for them or a child with a parent in the construction industry may ask for one made like the dump truck his parent uses at work. Many hours of play can be had from these vehicles and they are a great tool in occupying busy young children indoors and out. Where to Look A majority of the retail stores today offer a wide variety of these toys for your child to choose from as well as the toy stores of today. Many farm supply stores have these available especially around the holidays such as in time for Christmas shopping. Many online stores have these in nearly any body style or color your child may want. They make great gifts for children no matter what the occasion and can range in price from the very inexpensive to very custom and high end models you battery operated ride ons car.
