Plan Your Perfect Holiday in Boracay

Travel & Tourism,Sports,Recreation & Leisure
Boracay Island

It’s time to plan your perfect holiday in Boracay, with it’s 13 beautiful white sand beaches, and where you will be thrilled with the numerous fun activities on offer. The playground of the Philippines, Boracay is a 7kms long island less than one hours flying time south of Manila. It’s considered the Philippines top holiday location and is set up for fun and adventure for all ages of travellers. You can go sailing, diving, snorkelling, parasailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, rock jumping, nightlife, parties and much much more. Have quite walks, play golf, horse riding, quod bike rides, go karting, walk around the quaint shopping malls, beachfront dining and night time entertainment, the list goes on and on. Propose on a Boat at sunset or a Beach Wedding

Many westerners go there to be married on the beach or to propose to their partner on a boat with a backdrop of the most amazing sunset. Boracay is surely one of the world’s least known tropical paradises.

Boracay Weather

If you are in the northern hemisphere and planning a tropical holiday over your winter how fortunate you are to have two summers. The average temperature in Boracay like the rest of the Philippines, doesn’t vary very much when compared with the north America, Europe New Zealand and the southern half of Australia, ranging from 26C (78.5F) to 30C (84.5F). Rainfall significantly increases from June to October like the rest of Asian. I have regularly been in the Philippines over the wet season. It’s cheaper and it doesn’t rain all the time, tending to be overcast. Anyway, you will find you’re going to get wet doing water sports, or you will be inside shopping, drinking and dining you’ll be having a lot of fun and hardly notice a downpour. If you’re planning on a getting married on the beach it will pay to discuss and organise an alternate date just encase your preferred wedding day is rained off, or book a trip between November and May when your photos will have a clearer sky and better lighting. The humidity remains pretty much constant averaging around 82%. I’ve been in Auckland New Zealand, a city you would think would have very low humidity, and it had been much higher than that.

One of the things I really noticed the first time I went to the Philippines is that the sun rises at 6am and goes down at 6pm more or less. There are no long evenings but you get to see amazing sunsets. The beachfront, restaurants and shop lights go on and you feel the night get more and more exciting. Filipinos love their music and entertaining, so it’s not unusual for all the staff of a restaurant to be out on the beach front line dancing for the tourists. Fire eaters/juggling, guitarists, singers and live bands will be out, you’ll find music everywhere along the beach front and in public places.

Planning your Visit

I’ve been visiting the Philippines regularly for over 25 years. On my website http://boracay-beach.com you’ll have access to my recommendations for a great holiday and a simple Itinerary for you to record and plan your flights, accommodation and activities. I’ve also included an example itinerary as a guide.

The first thing you should do on the website is view the Youtube videos on the Welcome page to get a good idea what other visitors have done in Boracay. Then I suggest quickly going through the “Searching this Site” webpage to get learn the quicker ways of moving around the website. With your approximate holiday dates, move to one of the airline webpages to organise your flight and record the details on Day 1 of your Itinerary. Currently, as a “Rule of Thumb” for flying to Boracay, I suggest if you’re coming to the Philippines from America use Philippines Airlines, and Singapore Airlines from Europe or Oceania. These airlines will get you directly to Boracay without changing Airlines and have shorter travel time. A shorter travel time is more important than the cost of the flight, because if you have a long stopover your accommodation costs increase. However, if you fly from the UK or USA you may like a break in your journey with a few days stopping over in Singapore or Japan. You’ll be excited at the start of your holiday so I would suggest stopping over on the way home rather than on the way to Boracay. A stopover on the way home will create some excitement to journey home.

As there is so much to do in Boracay, it is a good idea to plan for at least a 14 day visit. I personally go to the Philippines for at least a whole month or more, to give me time to visit new places and catch up with my friends and family.

Because of Boracay’s remoteness travel costs are more than your average holiday, this is another reason why Boracay is such a good choice of holiday destination. Boracay is a once in a lifetime experience, plan ahead and save your funds and holiday leave. You won’t regret it.

John Lowe has been visiting the Philippines for over 20 years. If you want a great holiday in Boracay John presents his recommendations for various types of travelers. By using his website and taking your time to plan your holiday well in advance you will save money, doing the activities you prefer, and not waste your time on an ad-hock basis hoping everything will just fall in place after you arrive.
