The motorcycle taxi we arrived from the Dominican Republic. It is the ancestor of all systems of two wheelers established throughout the Americas from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. The motorcycle taxi timidly emerged in Haiti in the months of July and August 1987 in favor of the many passenger transport strikes in Port-au-Prince. Despite having arisen by chance in Haiti, the motorcycle taxi to Port-au-Prince is still a spontaneous response to a global offer totally unsuited to the needs of residents of different neighborhoods and spontaneous and anarchic growth of capital. It is in its operating procedures, personal means of transport, very expensive for the employee and for the economic agent that derives its income from an activity in the informal sector of the urban economy.
