Hand washing is recommended for delicate items such as lace, lingerie, wool, silk or very dark colours that may run. When hand washing delicate articles, use lukewarm or cold water. Dissolve ½ a scoop of Cold Power powder in 5 litres of water then add the article to be washed. Squeeze suds gently through the garment, taking care not to rub, wring or agitate any more than necessary. Stubborn stains may be dislodged by a gentle rub with Sard Wonder Soap before washing. Squeeze out, then rinse well, using lukewarm or cold water. Use the same gentle treatment described for the washing procedure. You will achieve a soft finish by adding Cuddly Ultra fabric softener to the final rinse. You can remove excess water after hand washing with a light spin in the washing machine, or by rolling up the articles in a dry towel. Do not hand wring or tumble dry. Turn your delicates inside out and hang dry as quickly as possible, avoiding strong winds and direct sunlight. Turn woollens and loosely woven or knitted articles inside out, pull them into shape, and dry flat. Cool iron if necessary. Drying Drying in the sun gives a fresh outdoor feeling, but always turn clothes inside out to minimise fading. If line drying is not possible then use a dryer. The dryer should be on cool or warm unless drying heavy items like towels, as the hot cycle sets can crease and shrink some clothes. Tumble drying on cool or warm may make ironing easier. Some items such as wollens lose their shape if hung on the line and will shrink if put in the dryer. For these items it is best to lay them flat on a towel out of direct sunlight. Ironing Before ironing it is important to check the care instructions on the garment to achieve the best results and avoid damaging the fabric. Using a fabric conditioner such as Cuddly Ultra in your wash will reduce the static cling of fabrics, making them much easier to iron. Tumble drying on cool or warm may also make ironing easier, but again, check the garment’s care instructions.
