When the tadpoles change into the next stage, that is, when they develop tiny spindle like legs, they start to crawl. This means that you either have to shift them into another container which has a large amount of dirt at its base or add some dirt to the container that is housing the tadpoles, since they will start to crawl. If this is not done, the tadpoles will drown and die within a matter of days. Rearing tadpoles from that stage to full-grown frogs needs serious commitment and a ton of patience because they require a very long time to mature.
