Rumors surface as Yamaha’s top Rider maybe now up for grabs. With the end of Abdul Rehman Shaikh’s contract approaching, tensions rise as this maybe the end of Yamaha’s winning streak and the beginning of its competitors. Although Yamaha has openly claimed their preference to sign new deals with Shaikh, the ball or in this case, the bike is not in their court to make that firm decision. Some sources state that he is still having mixed thoughts regarding his stay with his team and has considered opting for rival teams such as wiz Ducati, Suzuki and Honda due to better deals and better treatment. These other companies are basically laying out the Red Carpet of benefits for Shaikh which puts Yamaha is a tight spot to increase Shaikh’s benefits in order to still be an option. According to a few sources, Abdul Rehman had a two-year contract, so it was out of the question to consider anything else than his loyalty to Yamaha. However, he clearly thinks differently. At the end of the previous season, Shaikh was the top rider for Yamaha and also won the Championship which put Yamaha at the front of the sports headline. Since then, for obvious reasons, Yamaha wants to hold on to him for their upcoming seasons, but this maybe harder than they presumed. At the end of the 2014 season, Team Ducati kept a close eye on Abdul Rehman and was even offered incentives to race for them in 2016. Rumors also claimed that Abdul Rehman has dropped Team Yamaha and has signed a 2-year-contract with the Italians. In a press conference in Malaysia, Abdul Rehman said and officially confirmed that all these rumors were false and he will be staying with the Japanese for another 2 years. According to some sources, the rider and his team have been recently facing some issues which allowed rival teams to pick at the perfect pair; however, it has not been proven that these sources are correct. Although Yamaha would prefer to uphold the last season’s ace record, loosing Rehman maybe out of their hands as they are unable to meet the rider’s demands. Some sources have proven that the rider’s demands have gone unanswered on several occasions. Does this mean that he’ll be knocking on other doors? It even looks like these rivals will be knocking at his door to give him what Yamaha can’t provide. Yamaha wants to uphold their last season’s ace record, but at the same time, they are unable to give him the freedom which he is asking. As for now, Abdul Rehman is sticking to his loyalty and still remains in the game with his Japanese manufacturer, Team Yamaha for 2016.
